Hagerstown man charged in apparent stabbing



A Hagerstown man faces attempted second-degree murder charges after he allegedly stabbed another man in the face during a fight Sunday afternoon, Hagerstown Police said.

Chris Connolly, 21, also was charged with first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and carrying a concealed weapon, Sgt. Tom Langston said.

The assault, which happened at about 4 p.m. in the 100 block of East Antietam Street, stemmed from a dispute over a girlfriend, Langston said.

Washington County Hospital reported the incident to Hagerstown Police after a man walked in with stab wounds and cuts to his face and shoulder area, Langston said.

The wounds were not life-threatening, and the victim was treated at the hospital and released, Langston said.

Hagerstown Police did not release the victim's name.




One person badly injured in crash on Md. 56 near I-70



CLEAR SPRING - One person was seriously injured Sunday in a one-vehicle crash on Big Pool Road (Md. 56) near Interstate 70, a Washington County emergency services dispatcher said.

The crash happened at about 5:10 p.m., and the victim was flown to the Washington County Trauma Center with serious injuries, the dispatcher said.
