Barr Construction Institute

The Barr Construction Institute, the education division of the Cumberland Valley Chapter of Associated Builders & Contractors Inc., is accepting applications for apprenticeship/craft training classes.

Classes are offered in carpentry, electrical, HVAC-R, industrial maintenance, masonry, plumbing and sheet metal.

The program is registered with the U.S. Department of Labor, the Maryland and Pennsylvania Apprenticeship & Training Councils and the Veterans Administration. It is accredited through the National Center of Construction Education and Research, an affiliate of the University of Florida.

Those interested in the program must be at least 16, have a high school diploma or GED and physically be able to perform the work required.

Heritage In Home Care Services

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Heritage In Home Health Care Services has begun serving and delivering in-home care to clients in Washington County.

Heritage provides home support services in the areas of medication reminders, personal care such as bathing, dressing and grooming, housekeeping, laundry, meal planning, lawn care and transportation and assistance for shopping and medical appointments.

Companion care also is offered for those whose families live some distance away and are unable to maintain sufficient contact. Respite and 24-hour care also is available.

The organization has been providing "help at home" services for residents of Franklin and Fulton counties since opening in March 2006.

Susquehanna Bank

INWOOD, W.Va. - Leota Shillingburg, assistant vice president and branch manager of Susquehanna Bank in Inwood and her team of about 30 bank employees making up four West Virginia branches recently were recognized as the Top Veteran Team in Berkeley County at the March of Dimes luncheon.

Susquehanna Bank was recognized for raising more than $10,000 for the March of Dimes. The team successfully utilized its strong school and business partnerships, sold March of Dimes Beanies and participated in a walk to raise the money, surpassing last year's total and their goal for 2008.

Susquehanna Bank is a major supporter of the March of Dimes, having raised money and participated in eight walks over the past two years.
