The Poffenbergers



Albert "Al" and Kathryn "Kathy" Wolfe Poffenberger of Hagerstown were honored on Saturday, June 23, 2007, at a surprise 50th wedding anniversary dinner at the Cozy Restaurant in Thurmont, Md. The event was hosted by their children and their spouses, Dan and Tammy Poffenberger of Boonsboro; Tammy and Norman Weagley of Hagerstown; Elizabeth and Michael Nelson of Greencastle, Pa.; Lisa Rice of Pennsylvania; and Mark and Karen Poffenberger of Frederick, Md.

The couple's youngest son, Albert "Al" Poffenberger died in 2001. They have nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The Poffenbergers were married on June 22, 1957, in Hagerstown by the Rev. Frank Mentzer, now deceased.

Mrs. Poffenberger is the daughter of the late Max F. and Pearl E. (Lashley) Wolfe.

Mr. Poffenberger is the son of the late Albert Lee and Violet (Monninger) Poffenberger.

Mr. Poffenberger retired from Hagerstown Motor Express.

Mrs. Poffenberger worked at Western Maryland Hospital Center for 11 years and retired from Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown and the Medical Eye Bank in Baltimore, after 10 years of service.

The Klines



Wade and Jane Kline of Smithsburg celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, April 2, 2008. They were honored with a surprise party at the Leitersburg Grange Hall on Sunday, April 6. The celebration was hosted by their daughter and son-in-law, Flo and Mike Rohrer of Smithsburg. More than 75 friends, church and family members attended.

The Rhodes



Rodger and Dorothy (Whittington) Rhodes, of Hagerstown, celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on Thursday, June 26, 2008.

They were married at Trinity Lutheran Church on June 26, 1983, by the Rev. Ronald Weagley.

Mrs. Rhodes is the daughter of the late Henry A. and Hazel L. Whittington.

Mr. Rhodes is the son of the late Donald and Elsie Rhodes.

Mrs. Rhodes is employed with the Plaza Hotel's Fireside Restaurant.

Mr. Rhodes is retired from M&G Industries.
