Longest Walk 2 makes way through Chambersburg

June 27, 2008

Participants in Longest Walk 2 head east on U.S. 30 Thursday afternoon near Chambersburg, Pa. The group of American Indians is on a 4,400-mile trek that started in California in February and will end July 11 in Washington, D.C. The march retraces the steps of the first Longest Walk 30 years ago and is meant to raise awareness about environmental issues and the preservation of sacred Indian sites. The group walked Thursday from Cowans Gap State Park to Chambersburg.
