Body found in Franklin County, Pa., field

car at scene linked to woman missing since May

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found at about 9 p.m. Thursday in a farm field off U.S. 11 near the intersection with Pa. 997 in Greene Township, according to a news release.

The woman is unidentified and the cause of death is not known due to the condition of the body, the release said.

A 2002 Kia Rio last known to be driven by Liane D. Burget, 65, who was reported missing to Chambersburg Police on May 27, was found at the scene, the release said. Burget was last seen May 25.

Chambersburg Police and the Franklin County Coroner's Office are assisting with the investigation.

An autopsy on the body will be performed Saturday morning at Lehigh Valley Medical Center in Allentown, Pa., Coroner Jeffrey R. Conner said today. An effort will also be made to establish the identity of the woman using denral records, he said.
