FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- A West Virginia man is facing charges in Maryland for allegedly trying to set a man on fire.

Forty-five-year-old Gabriel Jackson of Inwood, W.Va., was arrested shortly before dawn Thursday, after Frederick police investigated a 911 hang-up call. Charging documents say officers found the victim on his front porch with blood on his lips and soot around his mouth.

According to the charging documents, the victim said he had been sitting on a couch in his home when Jackson poured lighter fluid on his head and face and tried to touch him with a lit piece of paper. Police found a small fire in the living room and Jackson was found at a nearby home.
