June 26, 2008

The Hagerstown Ballet, in concert with the dancers of the Antietam Ballet Theater, presented two performances of "Giselle" at 104 S. Mechanic St. in Sharpsburg.

The sold-out performances were June 13 and 14.

The cast included dancers from Maryland, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Texas and New York. All the dancers were trained by Carolou Russell, artistic director of the Hagerstown Ballet.

Lisa Ponton Pulse of the West Virginia Ballet danced the role of Giselle. Stephen Anaya of the Lubbock Ballet (Texas) will reprise his role of Prince Albrect. Rachel Doub and Erik Hoffman will return from Joffrey Ballet in New York to perform leading roles as well.

The Antietam Ballet Theater is in its eighth year of operation. It is the only "live" theater in southern Washington County. This theater is the home of the Hagerstown Ballet, a pre-professional company in the area. All students and company members are the students of former Philadelphia Ballet soloist Carolou Brown Russell.
