Cole Kimball pitched seven strong innings and the Hagerstown Suns made all five of their doubles count in a 5-1 win over the Lakewood BlueClaws on Wednesday night at Municipal Stadium.
Kimball (3-3) retired the first 10 Lakewood batters. He allowed one run, three hits and three walks while striking out six.
Clinging to a 2-1 lead, the Suns broke the game open with a three-run seventh.
Mark Gildea hit a one-out double down the left-field line, Valerio Heredia drew a walk and both scored on Boomer Whiting's double down the left-field line. Dan Lyons then plated Whiting with a double off the left-field wall.
Lyons finished with two of Hagerstown's nine hits.
The Suns took a 1-0 lead in the fourth on Aaron Seuss' RBI double. They went up 2-0 in the sixth on an RBI double by Michael Burgess.
