Hagerstown Community College held its sixth annual Honors Convocation on Thursday, May 15, in the Athletic, Recreation, and Community Center. The event recognized special awards, Phi Theta Kappa membership, graduation honors, Maryland Zeta Chapter of Lambda Nu for Radiological Sciences membership, and dean's list honors.
 Following remarks from HCC President Guy Altieri, attendees heard from Judith Oleks, vice president of academic affairs; Connie Devilbiss, professor of sociology; and two students, Benjamin Buhrman and Beverly Bowers.
The awards were presented by Beverly Yeagle, chair of behavioral and social sciences/business division, and Margaret Spivey, director of technology and computer studies, and recognized by Altieri and the HCC board of trustees.
Winners of the competitive awards include Anna M. Dice of Greencastle, Pa., for the All-Maryland Academic Team for Community Colleges, the Phi Theta Kappa Award, and the Outstanding Student in Psychology Award; Laura L. Sheffield of Hagerstown, for the All-Maryland Academic Team for Community Colleges; Jeremy D. Vancour of Hagerstown, for the Alumni Association Life Membership Award and the Student Government Association Award; Gail E. Higgins of Hagerstown and Rhonda J. McNulty of Mercersburg, Pa., for the Award for Personal and Professional Growth in Nursing; Ellen M. Livingston of Hagerstown, for the Campus Leadership Award and the Outstanding Student in Human Services Award; Peter V. Black of Keedysville, for the College Community Service Award; Alexander D.
