WASHINGTON COUNTY -- In addition to the usual complement of vegetable displays and livestock exhibits, this year's Washington County Agricultural Expo will offer carnival rides.

After meeting Tuesday with a representative from M & M Amusements, Washington County Agricultural Organization President Hal Spielman confirmed that this year's Ag Expo will have carnival rides and games available every evening.

In addition to the Ferris wheel, the first three days of Ag Expo will feature a giant slide and four or five other rides that appea to children, Spielman said.

The carnival rides and games will open at 4 p.m. Friday, July 18, the first day of the fair, and will open at 2 p.m. on July 19 and 20.

Beginning Monday, July 21, and for the rest of the week, the amusement company will have a full inventory of rides and games available, starting at 4 p.m. On Monday, people will be able to pay one price to ride an unlimited number of rides.

On all other nights, tickets will be sold to anyone who wants to ride. The price of the tickets had not been determined Tuesday, according to Spielman.

Spielman said he hopes the addition of rides will attract more people to the fair and give children something else to do.
