Home Run Derby winners

Two Conococheague Little League players were victorious Saturday in the District 1 Home Run Derby at South Mountain Little League.

Wyatt Scriever won the 11-year-old division with nine home runs and Nick Williams captured the 12-year-old division with eight home runs.

All 12 District leagues were represented.

Blaze second at tourney

SUNBURY, Pa. -- The Mason Dixon Blaze 10U team went 4-1 to place second at the Junior Olympics ASA Hall of Fame Tournament.

For the Blaze, Ashley Guyer batted .778 with six RBIs; Ally Brown batted .462 with two RBIs; Emily Getz batted .375 with six RBIs; Alexis Shearer batted .400; Hannah Crist had a team-high seven steals; Cierra Beaver went 2-0 with a 1.56 ERA and 12 strikeouts; and Elizabeth Ward was 2-1 with a 2.33 ERA and 13 strikeouts.


Hose wins in pro debut

KEIZER, Ore. -- North Hagerstown High School graduate T.J. Hose picked up the win in his professional baseball debut for the Class A Yakima Bears on Saturday.

Hose gave up one run on four hits in five innings to lead the Bears to an 8-4 win over the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes.

Hose was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 36th round of this year's draft.
