Nine students from Washington County named Carson Scholars

Nine students from Washington County were named Carson Scholars for the 2008 scholarship season. They are:

· Andrew Grove, eighth grade, from Western Heights Middle School

· Carly Hartman, 11th grade, Smithsburg High School

· Nathaniel Parchment, seventh grade, Northern Middle School

· Sinjin Shoop, fifth grade, Williamsport Elementary School

· Nicholas Staley, fourth grade, Old Forge Elementary School

· Evan Torres, fifth grade, Lincolnshire Elementary School

· Betsy Warner, 12th grade, North Hagerstown High School

· Robert Wolfe III, 12th grade, Grace Academy.

· Jordan Younker, eighth grade, Springfield Middle School


The Carson Scholars Fund is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charity founded by Dr. Benjamin S. Carson and his wife, Candy, to promote and reward young students for their academic achievements.

Benjamin Carson is the director of pediatric neurology at Johns Hopkins Hospital and is also a best-selling author, inspirational speaker and philanthropist.
