Three kindergarten teachers are hired

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - The Greencastle-Antrim School District on Thursday night approved the hiring of three full-day kindergarten teachers for the 2008-09 school year.

So Hyun Kim, Heather M. Shank and Karen E. Wickham will join the Greencastle-Antrim Primary School staff, effective Aug. 27.

"We had outstanding applicants," Primary School Principal Angie Singer said. "So many good candidates that we had to add one more round of interviewing to find out who would be the best fit. I am thrilled with what lies before us."

The school district approved full-day kindergarten at the May 15 board meeting.

Students involved in bomb threat permitted to return to school

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Two Greencastle-Antrim Middle School students involved in a bomb threat last November will be allowed to return to school this fall.

The two boys fulfilled the imposed discipline and will be permitted to enter high school, according to Middle School Principal Mark Herman.

"They are officially done with probation as of this meeting," Superintendent C. Gregory Hoover said at Thursday's board meeting.

A third student involved in the incident was not included because he moved from the district, according to Hoover.
