Two new Scouting groups forming in Funkstown area this summer

This summer, Funkstown will be bustling with Scout activity as two new groups are forming. A Boy Scout troop has begun meeting at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Baltimore Street. They meet on Thursdays at 7 p.m. Boys from age 11 to 18 are invited to check out the new troop. For more information, call Scott Paddack of the Mason-Dixon Council at 301-988-7800.

A different type of Scouting opportunity is available for those age 14 to 20. A Venture Crew, with a focus on remote-controlled vehicles - airplanes, boats, trucks, cars, tanks and rockets. Camping and other high-adventure activities will also be planned. They meet every Thursday at 7 p.m. at NexGen Hobby at 117 Baltimore St. in Funkstown.
