Women's Club's card party raises $1,100 for Holly Place

June 20, 2008

Each year for more than 20 years, the Women's Club, 31 S. Prospect St., Hagerstown, has sponsored a benefit card party and luncheon, with proceeds and a donation from the Women's Club given to a local charity.

Past recipients have included the Community Free Clinic, Hagerstown Day Nursery, Children in Need, For Our Kids' Sake, and many other community charities.

This year, the club responded to the financial needs of Holly Place, the facility on South Potomac Street, Hagerstown, that provides assisted living services for low-income clients. The facility has faced the possibility of having to close because of funding rule changes under Medicaid. There are 15 residents in the 15-bed facility.

Members of the community filled the Women's Club auditorium, dining room and both parlors for the April 16 benefit. As a result, the club donated $1,100 to benefit Holly Place.
