Wanted: Air conditioners

REACH's Faith in Action program is seeking donations of new and/or gently used air conditioners, in good working order.

High heat can cause adverse health effects for many senior citizens, infants and people who suffer from heart disease, lung disease, cancer, AIDS/HIV, or other life-threatening illnesses.

Some people cannot afford to provide air conditioning for themselves or their loved one.

Donated air conditioners must be window-type, room size, operate off 110 volt current and have all knobs, switches and expansion panels.

REACH is also accepting funds to buy new air conditioners. Mail donations to Faith in Action, in care of REACH Caregivers, 140 W. Franklin St., Suite 300, Hagerstown, MD 21740.

To receive an air conditioner, a 2008 air conditioner program application and medical documentation is required. Applications may be picked up at the REACH Center, or will be mailed to homebound applicants.

Applications will be accepted through Friday, Aug. 1. Donations will be accepted through Friday, Aug. 29. Air conditioners will be distributed through Friday, Aug. 29.
