Truck driver pinned by rig

June 15, 2008

A truck driver was pinned by his tractor-trailer Sunday night after it overturned in the median of Interstate 70 near Hagerstown, Maryland State Police said.

The driver, who was from Maine, was extracted from the truck and taken to Washington County Hospital, Cpl. Brian Blubaugh said. His injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, Blubaugh said.

The accident happened at about 8:35 p.m., when the driver lost control coming down the mountain on I-70 westbound, near mile 30, Blubaugh said. The truck overturned into the median, pinning the driver's leg, he said.

The left lane remained closed to traffic at about 10 p.m., but traffic was moving in the right lane and on the right shoulder, Blubaugh said.
