Third lecture set in collectors series

The last of a three-part series of "The Collector's Society" of Washington County Museum of Fine Arts will feature H. Eugene Comstock on Thursday, June 19. A social hour begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the presentation at 6:30 p.m.

Comstock, author of "The Pottery of the Shenandoah Valley Region," will present an illustrated lecture covering pottery products and their makers from the Hagerstown and Washington County areas, as well as the Bell family of potters.

Tickets cost $20 to $30 and are sold on a first-come, first-serve basis and can be purchased by calling 301-739-5727.

Auditions set for 'Modern Millie'

FREDERICK, Md. - Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre will hold auditions for "Thoroughly Modern Millie" at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 16, and Tuesday, June 17, at the theater, 5 Willowdale Drive. No appointment is necessary.


The play is the story of a young girl from Kansas who comes to New York in search of a husband and a new life for herself.

Those auditioning should be at least 18 years old, have a headshot and rsum, as well as 16 bars of prepared music, and be ready to sing, read from the script, and dance. All roles are nonunion paying. All roles are open except for the parts of Ching Ho and Bun Foo.

The production will run from Friday, Sept. 5, through Saturday, Nov. 8, with performances every Friday and Saturday evening and matinees on the first, third and fifth Sunday of each month.
