HAGERSTOWN -- Power has been restored to more than 3,000 Allegheny Power customers who were without electricity for about an hour Saturday afternoon, a spokesman for the power company said Saturday night.
A lightning strike knocked out power to 3,031 customers in the Paramount area about 3:20 p.m., spokesman Mike Grandillo said.
Power was restored by 4:30 p.m., Grandillo said.
Saturday's storms caused outages on and off all day for customers in Washington County, though the outages in the Paramount area were the most severe, Grandillo said.
About 3:30 p.m., police and fire and rescue workers reported a stoplight out at the intersection of Longmeadow Road and Leitersburg Pike and a cable line hanging down in that area.
Thunderstorms are expected to continue through midnight and pass through by Sunday morning, according to AccuWeather.com.
