Hilda V. Kable, 91



DEC. 26, 1916-JUNE 12, 2008

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Hilda Virginia Marshall Kable, 91, of Charles Town, died Thursday, June 12, 2008, at Shenandoah Health Center.

Born Dec. 26, 1916, in Charles Town, she was the daughter of the late James Riddle and Edna Locke Burns Marshall.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald McCarthy Kable. They were married in 1938.

She was a 1934 graduate of Charles Town High School and a 1936 graduate of Vogue Beauty School in Baltimore.

She opened and operated the Modern Beauty Shop in Charles Town.

She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, where she sang in the Sanctuary Choir.

Earlier, she participated in Mr. Littge's Band, playing guitar.

She had been a member of Beeline Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution and Daughters of the Confederacy.

She is survived by one daughter, Elinor D. K. Manzuk of Charles Town; three sons, Gary M. Kable of Charles Town, Donald H. Kable of Sharpsburg and Emory A. Kable of Ranson, W.Va.; two sisters, Ann L. M. Pine of Winchester, Va., and Doris D. M. Cline of Charles Town; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Jean M. O'Bannon.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church in Charles Town. The Rev. Richard Kroll will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill Cemetery in Charles Town.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home in Ranson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church, 110 W. North St., Charles Town, WV 25414 or to Hospice of the Eastern Panhandle, 122 Waverly Court, Martinsburg, WV 25403.




Mabel V. DeLawder, 84



JUNE 13, 1923-JUNE 12, 2008

BOLIVAR, W.Va. - Mabel Virginia DeLawder, 84, of Bolivar, died Thursday, June 12, 2008, at Care Haven Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born June 13, 1923, in Stanley, Va., she was the daughter of the late Seldon Cleveland Gray and Bessie M. Southard Gray.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond W. DeLawder Sr.

She was a member of St. George's Episcopal Church in Pine Grove, Va.

She was a member of Women of the Moose Lodge 1028 of Charles Town, W.Va.

She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Royston of Front Royal, Va., and Debbie Weister of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; one son, Raymond W. DeLawder Jr. of Harpers Ferry; seven grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Larry C. DeLawder; one sister; and five brothers.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Eackles-Spencer and Norton Funeral Home in Harpers Ferry. The Rev. Bland Campbell will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Lutheran Cemetery in Bolivar.

The family will receive friends Saturday and Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




David L. Miller, 43



FEB. 13, 1965-JUNE 10, 2008

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - David Lee Miller, 43, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, June 10, 2008.

Born Feb. 13, 1965, in Lorain, Ohio, he was the son of Orval Miller of Morgantown, W.Va., and Virginia Andrews Morton of Winchester, Va.

He was a tow motor operator for Martin Brower in Manassas, Va.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one daughter, Karlie Miller of Christiansburg, Va.; one sister, Kimberly Belt of Cross Junction, Va.; and his fiancée, Sandy Duncan of Martinsburg.

Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Rosedale Funeral Home in Martinsburg. Chris Butler will officiate. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Richard L. Barron Jr., 60



JUNE 14, 1947-JUNE 9, 2008

INWOOD, W.Va. - Richard L. Barron Jr., 60, of Inwood, died Monday, June 9, 2008, at his home.

Born June 14, 1947, in Charles Town, W.Va., he was the son of the late Richard L. Barron Sr. and Pearl Chapman Barron.

He was a truck driver employed by Valley Seeding Co., for more than 30 years.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of the American Legion.

He is survived by one son, Chad Barron of Martinsburg, W.Va.; Kelli Hutzler, who was like a daughter, of New Jersey; two sisters, Etta Greenfield and Mary Ruth James, both of Inwood; two brothers, Howard W. Barron of Bunker Hill, W.Va., and John T. Barron of Clearbrook, Va.; two grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry N. Barron.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at South Berkeley Funeral Chapel in Inwood. The Rev. Al Clipp will officiate. Military graveside services will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral chapel.
