Two flown out after Franklin Co. crashes

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Fayetteville, Pa., man was flown to York (Pa.) Hospital after a two-vehicle crash Thursday morning at the intersection of Cider Press Road and Garber Road in Guilford Township, Pa., Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release.

The crash happened at about 9:50 a.m. when an Oldsmobile Bravada SUV pulled out of Garber Road after stopping at a stop sign and collided with a Dodge Ram pickup truck, police said.

The driver of the SUV, Christopher Weaver, 19, of Fayetteville, was flown to York Hospital and the driver of the truck, Adam Johnson, 17, of Chambersburg, Pa., was taken to Chambersburg Hospital by ambulance, police said.

A female passenger in the SUV had minor injuries, police at the scene said.

The Franklin County and New Franklin fire departments handled the scene, police said.

Johnson had been released from Chambersburg Hospital by Thursday evening, according to a spokeswoman there.

A York Hospital nursing supervisor would not release Weaver's condition.

n Later in the day, a man was flown by helicopter to York (Pa.) Hospital with injuries from a head-on crash on Pa. 316 in Quincy Township, Pa.

The man was driving a green 1991 Ford Ranger pickup truck that collided with a black Honda Accord north of the intersection with Wharf Road at 5:30 p.m., Pennsylvania State Police said.

Both vehicles had Pennsylvania registrations.

The woman driving the Accord was taken to Waynesboro Hospital with minor injuries, police said.

Police, who said no passengers were in either vehicle, said they were unsure whether the drivers were wearing seat belts.

The investigating troopers had not filed a report on the crash as of Thursday night.
