Hagerstown Community College to offer course in coaching this fall

This fall, Hagerstown Community College will offer a sport coaching letter of recognition program for coaches and those interested in working in interscholastic or youth sports.

The nine-credit program will allow basic entry-level documentation, as well as provide practical application and skills development to assist the emerging coach.

Sport coaching classes offered at HCC for the fall semester include Principles and Practices of Sport Coaching (PED-225), which is offered on Mondays, from 6 to 8:45 p.m. The course is designed to be interactive and participatory. Guests will include nationally known and regarded coaches who will share their philosophies. Special emphasis will be placed on sportsmanship and building positive relationships with athletes, as well as developing game strategies. The course runs from Aug. 25 through Dec. 8.
