Greencastle woman admits using employer's credit cards on eBay spending spree

June 11, 2008

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- A former bookkeeper at a Frederick business has admitted using her employer's credit cards for more than $40,000 in purchases on the Internet auction site eBay.

Fifty-four-year-old Dixie Line of Greencastle, Pa., pleaded guilty Tuesday to unauthorized use of a credit card and felony theft. She was given a suspended sentence and was ordered to serve three years of supervised probation and pay restitution.

Authorities say her boss became aware of the purchases last June, while Line was living in Maugansville. Charging documents say Frederick County sheriff's deputies found her home filled with mostly unopened packages. The purchases included Tupperware, lighthouses and Longaberger baskets.

The sheriff's office plans to auction the seized property.
