Religion: Speakers and Topics

St. John's Episcopal Church, the Rev. Scott Bellows will preach at the 8 and 10:15 a.m. communion services. The parish choir will sing at the later service, which will be in the chapel at Saint James School, followed by the parish picnic on the grounds of the school.

Sunday school classes for all ages will resume in September.

St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Sunday at the 8:15 a.m. communion service and 10:30 a.m. alternate worship service, Pastor Quentin Fleming will preach on the topic, Two Little Words.

Sunday school for all ages begins at 9:15 a.m.

Trinity Lutheran Church, Hagerstown, Tyler Fairley will give the message at the 8:30 a.m. contemporary service and the 10:45 a.m. traditional service this Youth Sunday. A youth choir will perform selections from Godspell.

St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Smithsburg, the Rev. Mark Mooney will speak on the topic, Attitude Check, Sunday at the 9:30 a.m. service. Mooney and the puppets will be featured.

First Baptist Church, Sunday, Pastor Thom Smith will speak at the 11 a.m. service Sunday on the topic, Evangelist or Pastor.

Christ Reformed UCC in Cavetown, Pastor Carol Hallman will speak Sunday on the topic, Call and Response, at the 10:30 a.m. service.

Valley Assembly of God Christian Life Center, 17544 York Road, Hagerstown, Sunday, the Rev. Robert Jones will be the speaker at the 10 a.m. service. The topic is Five Laws of the Joash Chest.

Bible Study for all ages is at 9 a.m. There will be a graduation service at 6 p.m.

Wednesday Oasis services, Bible study and NuVision Youth are at 7 p.m. The topic is God's Challenge.

New Hope Church of Christ, 30 W. Salisbury St., Williamsport, Evangelist Thomas Huff will speak Sunday on topic, Faith is not an Accident.

The service and Sunday school begin at 9 a.m.

Bible study on Wednesdays is at 7 p.m.

A service of evening prayer using the chants of Taize will begin at 5 p.m. This informal, reflective service will be led by St. Paul's choir and will feature singing, scripture reading and times of silence.

Calvary Grace Brethren Church, Pastor Doug Courter will speak at the 10:30 a.m. service Sunday on the topic, Have You Been Fleeced?

Sunday school is at 9:15 a.m. At 6 p.m., Master's Men and Women of Charis will meet.

Tuesday Bible study is at 10 a.m. Wednesday youth programs begin at 6:30 p.m.

Christ Reformed Church, 304 E. German St., Shepherdstown, W.Va., the Rev. Bronson Staley will speak on the topic, Worship Without Love: Just a Crashing Cymbal, at the 11 a.m. service Sunday.

Christ Reformed United Church of Christ, Sharpsburg, Pastor Delancy Catlett will speak at 9 a.m. Sunday. The topic is Jesus Heals.

Children's Sunday school begins at 10 a.m.

Mount Vernon Reformed UCC, Keedysville, Pastor Delancy Catlett will speak at 10:45 a.m. Sunday on the topic, Jesus Heals.

Church of the Holy Trinity UCC, Halfway, the Rev. Tim Leighton will speak on the topic, Do You Believe?, during the 10:45 a.m. service Sunday. Fellowship follows the service.

Adult Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m. Children's church is at 10:45 a.m.

Tri-State Fellowship, Sunday, at 9:15 a.m. Sunday, Associate Pastor Tim Lester will speak at classic service and David Lehman at the caf service, while Peter Frey will speak at the 11 a.m. bridge service. All three will talk about Moses.

The summer children's program, Outrigger Island, for children age 2 through 5th grade is from 9:15 a.m. to noon.

Middle school and high school youth groups meet Sundays at 6 p.m.
