Washington County Sheriff's Department investigators on Friday were looking for a man who tried to abduct a 13-year-old girl Sunday near Halfway Park.

The girl had left the park and was walking west on Halfway Boulevard to Virginia Avenue when a man knocked her down, threw her over his shoulder and carried her into a wooded area in the 17000 block of Halfway Boulevard, a sheriff's department investigator said Friday.

She managed to break free and run from the man. She was not injured, the investigator said.

The man was described as mixed race, between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall and about 20 years old. He was wearing a black baseball hat, black gloves, baggy blue jean shorts, green boxers and black boots, the investigator said.

The man had a cross tattooed onto his right biceps and a symbol tattooed on his left biceps, the investigator said.
