Lindsey Nicole Taylor, daughter of Linda Taylor of Hagerstown and Ned Taylor Jr. of Falling Waters, W.Va., will celebrate commencement ceremonies from South Hagerstown High School on Friday. Many congratulations to you, Lindsey, on your graduation from SHHS, we wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors, with much love from the Taylor family!

AARP picnic

Chapter 623 of AARP will host its annual picnic Tuesday, June 10, at noon at Next Dimensions restaurant on Old National Pike in Hagerstown. Bingo will follow the meal. Each member is asked to bring at least one wrapped bingo prize of $1 value. Tickets are $13 each and can be purchased by calling Carrie Powell at 301-824-6120. This event is indoors and will be held rain or shine.

Collectibles show

Sports card and collectible enthusiasts, head to the Valley Mall on Friday, June 13, for the annual Sports Card Show. Collectors from around the area will be on hand displaying a great assortment of cards and sport collectibles. Items will be available through Sunday, June 15.


Hager House herbs

Visit the Jonathan Hager House and Museum on Thursday, June 12 at 7 p.m. for the Herbs of Hager's Time program. Get a chance to walk through the Hager House gardens and learn about some of the herbs commonly grown in colonial times. For more details on this free event, go to

Art in the park

Contemporary School of the Arts & Gallery will be hosting a special Family Day Arts weekend at Hagerstown City Park from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Yard, bake sale

St. Joseph Church, on the corner of Halfway Boulevard and Virginia Avenue, will host its annual yard and bake sale, Friday, June 20, from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday, June 21, from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will be held rain or shine in the Parish Center behind the church. Food and drinks will be available on both days. Saturday will be half-price day, with all yard sale items half their marked prices. Shoes and clothes will be $2 per bag.
