Worship center

The Boonsboro Family Worship Center at 7605 Old National Pike in Boonsboro has a busy weekend planned! On Friday, it will host an evening of gospel music from the Antietam Gospel Trio. Reunion will also be singing in this service. For information, call 301-432-0707, ext. 100.

On Saturday, the Worship Center invites you to a flea market/yard sale on from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be a food stand with sandwiches, homemade cakes, pies, goodies and much more. For additional information or to reserve a table, call 301-432-0707, ext. 100.

'Boot camp' fitness

Become fit, healthy and energized as you lose body fat, increase stamina and strengthen muscles. The Boonsboro area has showed enough interest and Total Fitness Specialists will bring its "boot camp"-style outdoor exercise class to you.


Classes are tentatively scheduled to begin in early June on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 6 to 7 p.m. in Shafer Park. With enough interest, a morning or daytime class in the Boonsboro area could be added.

Book club to meet

The Turn the Page Book Club will meet Wednesday, June 11, at 1 p.m. at Turn the Page Bookstore Cafe, 18 N. Main St., Boonsboro, to discuss Anita Shreve's novel "A Wedding in December." There are plenty of copies in the Book Club section at the store.

For July, the book selection is "Marley & Me: Life and Love with the World's Worst Dog," by John Grogan.

The book club meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 1 p.m. at the store. Feel free to jump in at any time. Current Book Club selections are always 20 percent off.

Roberts book signing

Nora Roberts fans might also want to put the next book signing on their calendar: July 12! Come in to Turn the Page Bookstore Cafe to pick up a signed copy of her next hardcover, "Tribute." She'll also be throwing out the first pitch at the Hagerstown Suns game on Friday, July 11, for "Nora Night" at the Municipal Stadium.

Yard sale

Brownsville Church of the Brethren is now accepting reservations for tables at their upcoming yard sale on Saturday, June 14. Spaces, including the table, are $10 per vendor.

VBS scheduled

Boonsboro Bible Church is gearing up for its annual vacation Bible school, which will run June 23 to 27 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. each evening. The theme is God's Big Back Yard, and includes fun, food, crafts and games for children up to age 12. There will also be a food drive that week to feed hungry families.
