Child hurt when struck by vehicle

A child was struck by a vehicle Friday afternoon after getting out of a taxi in the 700 block of Virginia Avenue, according to a Hagerstown Police Department press release.

The child got out of the taxi on the right side, ran around the front of the taxi out into the street and struck a vehicle that was driving on Virginia Avenue, police said.

The child was taken to Washington County Hospital, was treated for minor injuries and later released, police said.




Woman still critical after Monday crash

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A West Virginia woman still was in critical condition Friday night following a Monday car crash in Franklin County on Mercersburg Road south of Garnes Road, according to a Pennsylvania State Police press release.

Jessica Taylor, 22, and the driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash were flown to Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center Monday after the accident, troopers said.

Anthony Smith, 39, of Needmore, Pa., already had been released from the hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said Friday night.

Taylor was southbound on Mercersburg Road when her vehicle crested a hill and collided with the vehicle that Smith was driving, troopers said. Marijuana was found inside Taylor's vehicle, troopers alleged.
