Chicken barbecue

Don't forget the Maugansville Fire Company is having a chicken barbecue Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

'Kevin's Fund' golf

The Maugansville Ruritan Club will host its fifth annual "Kevin's Fund" golf tournament Friday, June 27, at Black Rock Golf Course. The shotgun start will be at 8:30 a.m. A buffet luncheon will be served immediately following the tournament.

In the past 4 years, the Ruritan Club, through the Kevin Lumm Memorial Fund, has donated more than $36,000 to help local children with medical and special needs, and the Batten Disease Support and Research Association (BDSRA). Call Marty at 301-790-1417 for details of the tournament, how to register to play or be a hole sponsor.

Seniors' picnic

The Maugansville Senior Group will meet Tuesday, June 3, at noon for its annual indoor picnic at the Maugansville Ruritan Building. Lunch will be fried chicken provided by the club with other pot luck items brought by the members. Don't forget to bring your own placesetting, whatever food item you signed up for and a bingo prize.

Let's make this a very special friendship time to celebrate summer - and no meetings after this picnic until September. Any questions, call Frances Bargiel at 301-739-6748 or Dorothy Smith at 301-745-6355.

AARP picnic

Local Chapter 623 of AARP will have its annual picnic Tuesday, June 10, at noon at Next Dimensions on Old National Pike, its regular meeting place.

It is tradition that bingo is played following the meal. Each attending member is asked to bring at least one bingo prize. The prize should be of $1 value and wrapped.

Picnic tickets cost $13 each and can be obtained from Carrie Powell. Give Carrie a call at 301-824-6120. The last day to obtain tickets is June 4.
