Washington Co. Dems opening HQ, showing films

The Washington County Democratic Central Committee is opening its campaign headquarters for the election season Tuesday.

The office, at 245 N. Potomac St. in Hagerstown, will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 4 to 6 p.m., through July 20.

Starting July 21, the hours will expand to Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The headquarters will have an "Issues 2008" library. Political books will be loaned at no charge.

The Central Committee also is having an "Issues 2008" film festival, co-sponsored by the South County Democratic Club.

Each film screening and discussion will be at Hagerstown Community College's Science Building from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

The first film, to be shown Wednesday, is "No End in Sight," a look at the war in Iraq.

Three other films have been scheduled:

· June 11: "An Inconvenient Truth"

· June 25: "Sicko"

· July 2: "Outfoxed"

The films to be shown June 18 and July 9 will be announced.
