The winner of the grand prize at the fourth annual LuHowl, a Hawaiian-themed fundraiser to benefit the Humane Society of Washington County, was Betty Lee Smith.
The fundraiser on May 3 was hosted Don and Jone Bowman. All proceeds benefit the Humane Society's spay and neuter programs.
"The Bowmans are so gracious to open their home once again for our LuHowl fundraiser," said Paul Miller, executive director of the Humane Society. "This year we had the largest attendance so far for the event and everyone seemed to be having a wonderful time."
Door prizes were awarded throughout the evening as guests enjoyed their meal catered by the Black Eyed Susan, beverages compliments of Wantz Distributing and music performed live by Ted Raschka and Tom King. The emcee was Tom Riford, president of the Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau. With his encouragement, vigorous bidding took place on the 23 silent auction packages that helped raise an additional $3,600 for the shelter.
