Dorothy E. Boyd, 93

MARCH 27, 1915-MAY 25, 2008

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Dorothy E. Boyd, 93, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, May 25, 2008, at Canterbury Center in Shepherdstown, W.Va.

Born March 27, 1915 in Frederick County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Dorey E. and Detta E. Leith Boyd.

She retired from Royce Hosiery.

She is survived by two sisters, Georgia Young of Charles Town, W.Va., and Wilda VanMetre of Lewisburg, W.Va.; one brother, Ned L. Boyd of Martinsburg; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Pierce and Ruth Miller, and one brother, John D. Boyd.

Graveside services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Rosedale Cemetery. The Rev. John Yost will officiate.

Carol A. Welsh, 60

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Carol A. Wishard Welsh, 60, of 8748 Windy Hill Road, died Saturday, May 24, 2008, at Waynesboro Hospital. Her death was unexpected and attributed to heart failure.


Born May 29, 1947, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Charles D. and Catherine Rebecca Sheffler Wishard.

She received her GED in 1988.

She was employed as a nurse's aide for South Mountain (Pa.) Restoration Center for 22 years. She retired in 1997.

She was a member of Antrim Faith Baptist Church, Waynesboro and National AARP.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Timothy Allen Welsh Sr.; one daughter, Michelle R. Moats of Waynesboro; two sons, Timothy A. Welsh Jr. and Rick L. Welsh, both of Waynesboro; one brother, Donald L. Wishard of Shippensburg, Pa.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; one niece; one nephew; and one aunt.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. Pastor Herbert S. Busick Sr. will officiate. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery, near Quincy, Pa.

It was her request to have no public viewing, however, the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Kenneth L. Hollar, 86

Kenneth Lee Hollar, 86, of 343 S. Cannon Ave., Hagerstown, died Monday, May 26, 2008, at Western Maryland Center.

Born April 14, 1922, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Alan Lyn and Viola Montez Forney Hollar.

His wife, Dorean Audrey Hollar, died Dec. 10, 1999.

He was employed by Washington County Board of Education, retiring in 1984.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He is survived by three daughters, Sharon L. Shafer and Doreen L. Weddle, both of Hagerstown, and Rosemary F. Campbell of Madison, Va.; three sons, Kenneth W. Hollar and David S. Hollar, both of Hagerstown, and Joseph E. Hollar of Chambersburg, Pa.; three granddaughters; four grandsons; seven great-grandchildren, and several cousins.

Graveside services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, Hagerstown.

Daniel P. McClarigan Jr., 65

SHARPSBURG - Daniel Paul McClarigan Jr., 65, of 16914 Snyders Landing Road, died Saturday, May 24, 2008, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Feb. 4, 1943, in Lancaster, Pa., he was the son of Marian Arlene Kreider McClarigan of Lancaster, and the late Daniel Paul McClarigan Sr.

He was a graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School, class of 1961, and received his AA degree from Lancaster Business College in 1965.

He was the hotel accountant at Bavarian Inn, Shepherdstown, W.Va., for the past 15 years.

He served with the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1966.

He was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Halfway, AARP and Teamsters Local 992, Hagerstown.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Josephine Sandra Shaffer McClarigan; two daughters, Lori A. Weaver of Williamsport and Lisa J. Garlock of Hagerstown; two brothers, Brian L. McClarigan of Malone, N.Y., and Kevin J. McClarigan of Lancaster, and three grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Halfway. The Rev. Christopher P. Moore will be celebrant. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends at Osborne Funeral Home, Williamsport, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral home will be open after 9 a.m.

Katherine W. Moler, 98

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Katherine Watson Moler, 98, of Charles Town, died Sunday, May 25, 2008, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, in Ranson, W.Va.

Born March 23, 1910, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Wade W. and Ella Trussell Watson.

Her husband of 70 years, Dr. James M. Moler, died Aug. 4, 2005.
