SMITHSBURG -- A 35-year-old Boonsboro woman was killed Sunday evening after the motorcycle she was riding was struck by a hit-and-run driver, the Washington County Sheriff's Office said in a news release. Police are still looking for the driver.

According to the release, Debra Reed Fields-Jordan, of 9364 Childacrest Drive, Boonsboro, was traveling eastbound on Foxville Road at about 6:54 p.m. when a white pickup truck traveling southbound on Pleasant Valley Road ran a stop sign at the Foxville Road intersection.

Fields-Jordan's motorcycle, which had the right of way, struck the pickup truck on the passenger side. The truck then hit a tree just south of the intersection and the driver fled the scene on foot, the release said.

Fields-Jordan was taken to Washington County Hospital, where she later died, the release said.

Law enforcement officers and K-9 dogs searched the area, but the pickup truck driver could not be found.
