REACH needs bagged lunches for shelter

May 26, 2008

The REACH Cold Weather Shelter is looking for groups and individuals willing to prepare bagged lunches for men and women in the shelter that will be in operation from Oct. 26 to April 6.

If interested, contact the REACH office as soon as possible to schedule a time to discuss the logistics. Call 301-733-2371 or send e-mail to reach@myactv.net.

Lunches need to include one sandwich, fruit/pudding cup, chips and a cookie/brownie etc. No drink is required.

Each group is also responsible for supplying up to 10 extra sandwiches per day in case more lunches are needed.

A lunch coordinator for each group is responsible for initiating contact with the CWS coordinator before the scheduled week and is to keep updated on the number of lunches/extra sandwiches that are needed.

Daily arrangements are to be made for the lunches to be dropped off the night before. There must also be a plan in case of inclement weather.

This service helps many of the guests who cannot afford to buy lunch. It also fulfills a basic need for food when the shelter is closed for the day.
