Pa. man seriously hurt in Md. 63 crash

A 23-year-old Everett, Pa., man was critically injured Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident on Md. 63 south of Interstate 70, Maryland State Police said.

The man, whose name was not released, was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he was listed in critical condition as of Thursday about 8 p.m., police said.

He was a passenger in a 1991 Pontiac Grand Am that collided with a 2006 GMC Savanna van about 12:54 p.m., police said.

The Pontiac was attempting to cross southbound Md. 63 (Greencastle Pike) when it pulled into the path of the van, police said.

The driver of the Pontiac, Latisha Dawn Howsare of Everett, and passengers Amy Elizabeth Bennett of Hyndman, Pa., and Cassi Marie Diebert of Everett were taken to Washington County Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The driver of the GMC van, Glenn L. Crider of Shippensburg, Pa., and the van's front-seat passenger, Robert L. Bentley II of St. Thomas, Pa., both refused medical treatment at the scene, police said.

Police were continuing to investigate.
