Maryland Symphony hires new director of marketing and public relations

The Maryland Symphony Orchestra has hired a new director of marketing and public relations, according to an MSO press release.

Gregory R. Evans was hired in April to replace Lisa Nielsen, who left the MSO to work as managing editor of Frederick Magazine.

Andrew Kipe, the MSO's executive director, said he is excited about working with Evans, who has more than 30 years of public relations and marketing experience, according to an MSO press release.

"He will bring a lot of good background to the Maryland Symphony Orchestra," Kipe said. "We're very happy to have him here."

Evans will be responsible for the MSO's sales and subscriber campaigns as well as marketing the MSO with press releases and other materials, Kipe said.

Evans is from Hyndman, Pa., and earned a bachelor's degree in speech communications from Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, W.Va.

He lives in Mercersburg, Pa.
