Coad named VP and administrator at Jefferson Memorial Hospital

RANSON, W.Va. -- Christina Coad has been named vice president and administrator for Jefferson Memorial Hospital, it recently was announced in a press release by Roger M. Eitelman, president and chief executive officer of West Virginia University Hospitals-East.

Coad, a registered nurse, brings to WVUH-East and Jefferson Memorial Hospital more than 25 years in nursing leadership and administration, with an emphasis in emergency medicine. For the majority of her career, she has worked in hospitals in Virginia and Maryland, developing and implementing standards of nursing care and ensuring nursing competency while managing human resource functions for staff and management.

Coad holds a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Shenandoah University, and a master's degree in nursing/executive leadership and a master's degree in management/human resources/organizational development, both from Wilmington (Del.) College. In June, she will be awarded her Ph.D. in nursing/organizational ethics from York University.

In 2006, Coad joined Jefferson Memorial Hospital as the manager/process engineer of the emergency department and has provided daily executive leadership and management in her role as a hospital consultant. She is nationally certified as an emergency nurse and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

"Given her professional background and familiarity with our system, we feel confident that she is the right person to lead Jefferson Memorial Hospital."

Coad assumed her new position Monday.
