Fairview students, reporter arrive at Camp Eder

May 21, 2008|By JENNIFER FITCH

Buses filled with Fairview Elementary School children went over the mountain and through the woods before arriving just before noon at Camp Eder in Adams County, Pa. The Waynesboro, Pa., children took a tour of the camp and settled into their cabins, then grabbed brown bag lunches in the dining hall.

The fifth-graders will spend Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in "Outdoor School," learning about nature and the lifestyles of early settlers.

"I stayed awake until 12 o'clock because I was too excited," said Gaylin Leizear, a student in Bobbi Blubaugh's class.

Staff writer Jennifer Fitch will be participating in Outdoor School with the students. If you have any questions for her or the children, e-mail waynesboro@herald-mail.com. She'll try to answer questions in the next update.
