Washington County Health System's Learning Center benefits from book drive

The Cornerstone Book Drive, a two-week community service initiative by Cornerstone Wealth Management Group in Hagerstown, has netted 675 children's books for The Learning Center, an affiliate of Washington County Health System. The books were delivered May 9 to the early care and education facility on Summit Avenue in Hagerstown.

Cornerstone Founder Scott Ford and his staff delivered the books to the center and were given a tour of the facility by the center's staff. After the tour, Ford performed a magic trick and read to a group of 4-year-olds for their story time.

The Learning Center, with more than 200 students from the Tri-State area, has developmentally appropriate educational programs to meet the needs of children from 6 weeks to 5 years of age. The curriculum helps enhance children's language skills, cognition, and social/emotional and motor development.

The Cornerstone Book Drive kicked off April 25 and concluded on May 9.
