Theft, damage incidents reported in Hagerstown

Hagerstown police recently responded to the following incidents, officers said in a news release:

Sunday:

· At 4 p.m., theft was reported at the YMCA on Eastern Boulevard. A cell phone was taken.

Monday:

· At 7:50 a.m., damage was reported in the 800 block of Concord Street. A door was damaged.

· At 8:54 a.m., damage to a motor vehicle was reported in the area of Alley 63. A door was damaged.

· At 3:56 p.m., theft was reported in the 800 block of Mulberry Avenue. A Maryland tag number 953569G was reported stolen.

· At 9:33 p.m., damage to a motor vehicle was reported in the first block of Elizabeth Street. A vehicle was dented.

· At 8:23 p.m., damage to a motor vehicle was reported in the 100 block of Summit Avenue. Mirrors were damaged.

Washington County deputies respond to calls

The Washington County Sheriff's Department responded to the following incidents, according to Lt. Mark Knight:

Friday:

· At 11:30 a.m., theft was reported at Sharrett Inc. in the 10000 block of Auto Place. Two toolboxes were taken from a 2004 Chevrolet truck.

· At 12:30 p.m., auto theft was reported at Weaver's Restaurant in Hancock. A light blue Mercury Mystique with the Maryland tag 5DWJ26 was reported taken.

· At 12:30 p.m., malicious destruction of property was reported at Extra Innings, 16000 Business Parkway. A birdhouse was thrown through a window.

· At 7:45 p.m., malicious destruction of property was reported in the 3000 block of Trego Road. Three windows were broken.

· At 8 p.m., theft was reported in the 13000 block of John Martin Drive. A bank card was taken from a vehicle.

· At 10 p.m., theft was reported in the 17000 block of Swann Road. Keys and a remote were taken from a vehicle.

· At 11:30 p.m., theft was reported at the Pilot Travel Center in the area of Halfway Boulevard. A television was taken.

Saturday:

· At 7:30 a.m., malicious destruction of property was reported in the 25000 block of Highfield Road in Cascade. Two tires were slashed overnight.

· At 8 a.m., malicious destruction of property was reported in the 10000 block of Garis Shop Road. Two tires were slashed.

· At 12:30 p.m., theft was reported in the 17000 block of Burnside Avenue. A black 26-inch Trek bike was taken.

Sunday:

· At 12:15 p.m., theft was reported at High Street in Funkstown. A bench was taken off a front porch.

· At 10:45 p.m.,, theft was reported in the 20000 block of Bent Willow Road. Cash was taken from a locked vehicle.

Monday:

· At 12:15 p.m., theft from a motor vehicle was reported in the first block of Yankee Drive in Keedysville. A vehicle was broken into and a gym bag worth $150 was taken.

· At 1:45 p.m., malicious destruction of property was reported at Four Star Athletic, 30 Milestone Terrace. A rock was thrown through the windshield of a vehicle.

· At 3 p.m., theft from a motor vehicle was reported in the 19000 block of Dogstreet Road in Keedysville. Change was taken from the ashtray in a vehicle.

· At 3:30 p.m., theft from a motor vehicle was reported in the area of Farragut Drive in Keedysville. A vehicle was broken into overnight but nothing was taken.

· At 3:45 p.m., theft from a motor vehicle was reported in the area of Rebel Lane in Keedysville. About $20 in change was taken from a vehicle.

· At 4:14 p.m., theft from a motor vehicle was reported in the area of Sumter Drive in Keedysville. An iPod was taken from a vehicle overnight.

· At 6:30 p.m., theft from a motor vehicle was reported in the area of Rebel Lane in Keedysville. About $2 in change was taken from a vehicle overnight.

· At 7:15 p.m., drug violations were reported at Washington County Park in the 20000 block of Mount Aetna Road. Two children were arrested for possession of drugs.

· At 10:45 p.m., theft from a motor vehicle was reported in the 10000 block of Crystal Falls Drive. A vehicle was broken into and a GPS and some CDs were taken.

Chambersburg man charged with assault after allegedly firing above man's head

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Chambersburg man was charged with aggravated assault Sunday after he allegedly fired a shotgun round above a man's head, Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release.

Kenneth Schwab, 44, was also charged with reckless endangerment and making terroristic threats, police said.

Police said Schwab was in a verbal argument with the 22-year-old victim in the 1000 block of Paper Mill Road at about 7 p.m. Sunday when he left, got a 12-gauge shotgun from next door and fired two rounds into the air while walking back, according to the release. Schwab then kicked the front door open, pointed the gun at the victim, and discharged a round into the wall above the victim's head, police said.

Schwab was arrested about a quarter-mile from the residence, police said.
