Acting city manager Jeremy Camp resigns

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Charles Town City Council members Monday night accepted the resignation of acting City Manager Jeremy Camp.

Camp was in the position since January when Jane Arnett left the position to take another job with the city, said City Council member Michael Slover.

There was no discussion about why Camp stepped down when council members accepted the resignation.

Slover declined to say why Camp stepped down.

New home eyed for police department

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Charles Town City Council members are studying the possibility of moving the Charles Town Police Department to a new location.

The police department is at the corner of Liberty and Charles streets but needs more space, said Mayor Peggy Smith.

A building near the intersection of W.Va. 9 and Jefferson Avenue that has served as a furniture store will soon be available for new tenant and is being considered for the police department, Smith said.

Smith said some people like having the police department downtown, but the proposed location would put the police department closer to some newly annexed areas, Smith said.
