May 20, 2008

CLEAR SPRING -- A fire Monday night caused about $150,000 in damage to a home in the 14000 block of Fairview Hill Lane in Clear Spring, the Maryland State Fire Marshal said.

No one was transported to the hospital, a Washington County Emergency Services dispatcher said this morning.

More than 40 firefighters took 30 minutes to control the fire, which was reported at 11:23 p.m. Monday, the fire marshal said in a news release.

John Fiery, who lived at the home, discovered the fire, which had started in a carport.

Firefighters from Clear Spring, Maugansville, Long Meadow, and Mercersburg, Pa., responded, as did the Community Rescue Service Inc. and the Washington County Chapter of the American Red Cross.
