In recognition of Trauma Awareness Month, Washington County Hospital will host a trauma team celebration Thursday.
To celebrate this day, Washington County Hospital Trauma Services, in partnership with Washington County Public Schools, held an essay contest. Students from the sixth, seventh and eighth grades in the community were asked to write about injury prevention.
The grand prize winner will be featured in a radio commercial to remind children to be safe this summer by following safety tips selected from the essay. Two runners-up will receive a certificate and gift.
The winners of this year's contest will be recognized at a reception Thursday at 4 p.m. at the hospital. The program also will honor the men and women who work in the trauma center.
