About 220 people attended the Schmankerl Stube Bavarian Restaurant's 20th anniversary party Friday at University Plaza in downtown Hagerstown.
Attendees dined on Bavarian roasted pork, beef roll stuffed with pickles, Black Forest cookies, and other items. The event also marked the 63rd birthday of Schmankerl Stube owner Charles Sekula.
Sekula said his staff worked to prepare food for the celebration over the last three days.
"Our kitchen is so tiny, they got on each others' nerves," he said.
It was 20 years ago last month that Sekula, a German immigrant, opened the restaurant at the corner of Antietam and South Potomac streets in Hagerstown.
