May 16, 2008

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Tim Pahuta's two-run home run in the ninth inning Thursday gave the Hagerstown Suns a 7-6 victory over the Lexington Legends in the South Atlantic League.

Daniel Lyons led off the ninth with a triple to center off Lexington reliever Jay Pacella. After a strikeout, Pahuta ripped his fifth homer of the season to left for the lead.

Lexington took a 6-5 lead in the bottom of the seventh on Collin DeLome's eighth homer of the year.

The Legends used a five-run sixth to take a 5-3 lead, using three big hits off Suns reliever Justin Phillabaum to do the damage. Eric Taylor hit an RBI double, Russell Dixon hit an RBI single and Brian Pellegrini launched a three-run homer, his first this year.

Hagerstown took a 1-0 lead in the third when Brandon Whiting singled, stole second and scored on Lyons' single.

The Suns made it 3-0 in the top of the sixth on the strength of three doubles, hit by Stephen King, Michael Burgess and Sean Rooney.
