Bicycle ride in Hagerstown to honor those killed on roads

May 15, 2008

The Ride of Silence "to honor the memories of those who have died or have had a bad accident on a bicycle" will be held in Hagerstown on Wednesday.

The riders will meet in the east parking lot at Hagerstown Fairgrounds Park at 7 p.m.

The ride will be a 10-mile tour through the city.

This is not a fundraiser, but a ride to bring awareness to cyclists on the roads and streets in the area and across the nation.

The ride is sponsored by Hub City Sports and Cumberland Valley Cycling Club.

Riders are asked to wear a black arm band.

The organizers "are dedicating this ride to the memory of our friend, Lloyd Clarke, who we lost in a traffic accident on Sept. 20, 2007."
