Smithsburg Lions welcome new member

On Feb. 27, District Gov. Barbara J. McKenney made her official visit to the Smithsburg Lions Club.

She reviewed the accomplishments of District 22-W and informed the club of the upcoming events and challenges in the areas.

The goals and achievements of the Smithsburg Club were reviewed, as well.

During this visit, McKenney inducted Joe Caha as the newest member of the Smithsburg Lions Club.

He becomes part of the global neighbors who provide immediate help, assist in sustaining relief in times of disasters and offer long-term assistance to those in need.

The Smithsburg Lions Club meets the second and fourth Wednesdays at the Golden Corral in Waynesboro, Pa., and has 26 members.


The club provide services to the Smithsburg and surrounding communities.

Lions International has nearly 1.5 million members in approximately 200 countries.

Lions tackle problems like blindness, drug abuse prevention and provide services to their communities.
