Robert L. Friend, 58

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. - Robert L. Friend, 58, of Mechanicsburg, died Monday, May 12, 2008, at his home.

Born March 7, 1950, in McKeesport, Pa., he was the son of the late John T. and Elsie Cook Friend.

He was a graduate of Elizabeth-Forward High School in Elizabeth, Pa., and Duke University in Durham, N.C.

He was last employed by Perot Systems Corp. in Mechanicsburg.

He is survived by one brother, J. Preston Friend of Chambersburg, Pa.; two nieces and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Carol Graham.

In accord with his wishes, no services are planned at this time.

Arrangements are by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Crematorium in Chambersburg.

Darrell W. Trumpower, 55

CULPEPER, Va. - Darrell Wayne Trumpower, 55, of Culpeper, died Sunday, May 11, 2008, at his home.

Born June 20, 1952, in Hagerstown, he was the son of M. Wayne and Catherine E. Trumpower of Hagerstown.

He was a 1970 graduate of South Hagerstown High School.

He was employed as a receiving manager by Shoppers Food Warehouse for the past 28 years.

He attended Saint Stephens Episcopal Church.

He was a member of the Maryland Chevelle Club and the American Chevelle Enthusiasts Society.

He participated in bowling leagues, and baseball and softball teams in the community.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Bonnie Lynn Trumpower; his grandmother, Sally A. Marquiss of Sacramento, Calif.; two daughters, Kayleigh Trumpower and Lauren Trumpower, both of Blacksburg, Va.; one son, Donnie W. Trumpower of Huntersville, N.C.; one sister, Carol D. Keckler of Hagerstown; two brothers, Jeffrey A. Trumpower of Hagerstown and Brian L. Trumpower of Bennington, N.H.; one granddaughter; and nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

A memorial service will be Sunday at 4 p.m. at Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Hagerstown. The Rev. Ken Hawes will officiate.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel in Culpeper.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of one's choice.

Robert Erwin Hebb, 70

SMITHSBURG - Robert Erwin Hebb, 70, of 21940 Holiday Drive, Smithsburg, Md., passed away Monday, May 12, 2008, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown, Md.

Born Friday, April 1, 1938, in Fiddlersburg, Md., he was the son of the late James Hebb and Frances Fisher Hebb.

He was employed by Marquett/Independent Cement Co. and later retired from Eastalco Aluminum after 30 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Bob was a member of the Shiloh United Methodist Church, United Steel Workers Local 7886, where he was a charter member and served on the grievance committee, Eagles Club Inc. of Waynesboro, Pa., North American Rod and Gun Club, Williamsport Improved Order of Red Men, Central Maryland Labor Council AFL/CIO and the South County Democratic Club.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Nancy I.(Ausherman) Hebb; two daughters, Karren Redman and husband, Steven, of Warfordsburg, Pa., and Cheryl Lowe and husband, Michael, of Hagerstown; two sons, Monty Hebb and wife, Deborah, of Hagerstown and Darren Hebb and companion, Annie Long, of Hagerstown; one sister, Shirley Hebb Poe and husband, Ralph, of Hagerstown; one brother, Gene Hebb of Hagerstown; three grandsons, Colt Redman, Bobby Hebb and Jimmy Hebb; and three granddaughters, Jenn Lowe, Beth Lowe and Sam Lowe.

He was preceded in death by a brother, James Hebb Jr.

Services will be held Thursday, May 15, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, with Pastor C. Wayne Frum officiating.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 14.

Interment will be in Beaver Creek Cemetery, Beaver Creek, Md.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross for the benefit of the Blood Donor Program, 1131 Conrad Court, Hagerstown, MD 21742.

Mr. Willis T. "Woody" Kump, 81

FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - Mr. Willis T. "Woody" Kump, 81, of 253 Grade Road, Falling Waters, W.Va., died at 2:30 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2008, at Williamsport Nursing Home, Williamsport, Md. He had been critically ill for the past year.

Born April 12, 1927, in Chambersburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Edgar R. and Rhoda (Seyler) Kump. He spent his early life in the Chambersburg area.

Mr. Kump was a graduate of Chambersburg High School with the class of 1945.

He served in the U.S. Navy, during World War II, from April 10, 1945 until Jan. 22, 1947 in the Pacific Theater.

He and his wife of 61 years, Mrs. Betty Ann (Steinbach) Kump, were married Jan. 12, 1947 in Chambersburg. They had lived in Falling Waters for more than 30 years.
