Man robs Martinsburg car wash

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A man robbed the Petersons Car Wash along Winchester Avenue in Martinsburg at gunpoint Monday afternoon, police said.

The suspect is a black man, about 6 feet tall and believed to be 25 to 30 years old, police said. He had a small mustache and was wearing baggy blue jeans and a black hoodie when he entered the business and asked for change about 2:20 p.m., police said.

The employee was responding to the request when the man pulled out a black handgun pointed it at the employee and demanded the rest of the cash in the register, police said. The amount of cash taken was not disclosed.

The employee gave the man the cash in the register and the suspect left business, fleeing south on foot along Winchester Avenue.

Through the assistance of the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office K-9, the suspect was tracked to the Martinsburg Mall area.
