Legends take their time to stop Suns

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Russell Dixon hit a two-run homer and Collin DeLome drove in one of his two RBIs in a three-run third inning on Monday to lift Lexington to a 7-4 victory over the Hagerstown Suns.

The three-run rally gave the Legends a 4-1 lead that they turned into a 7-2 advantage with single runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to put the game away.

Lexington began erasing a 2-0 deficit in the second inning with a single run and then took the lead in the third off Suns starter Brad Peacock (0-4). Peacock lasted five innings, allowing four runs on three hits, but walked four and hit two batters.

Dixon drove in three runs with two hits while DeLome brought in his runs with a sacrifice fly and a single.

The Suns took a 1-0 lead in the first when Boomer Whiting led off with a double off Lexington starter Anthony Bello and scored on Bill Rhinehart's grounder.

The Suns took a 2-0 lead in the second on doubles by Stephen King and Michael Barrett.

Hagerstown got to within 4-3 in the fifth when Rhinehart reached on an error to score Stephen Englund.

Burgess had three hits and two RBIs for the Suns.
